Cortfinder Integrates Cortana and Multiple Search Engines Into One Experience

Obviously Cortana herself uses Bing (and she’d probably go all Skynet on the world if she was forced to use anything else), but if for some reason Bing doesn’t work for you all the time, you can find another option in Cortfinder from developer Akul Gupta.

Cortfinder integrates with Cortana and allows you to search multiple search engines using your voice, and it gives you a choice of using Google, Yahoo (essentially Bing), Wikipedia, eBay, and Urban Dictionary. The developer says that more is to come “in future updates.”

The app is every bit as simple as it sounds. Using Cortana as you always do, you can say “Search” followed by your search engine choice and then your query. For example, you can say “Search Google for Windows Phone 10″ or Search Yahoo for Joe Belfiore” and you’ll be presented with your query as Cortana automatically opens the app and then the search engine results. It’s not as personal as results found in Bing and Cortana, so you won’t be able to add it to your Notebook.

Still Cortfinder offers a unique experience for those times when you want to use a search engine other than Bing. You might potentially find yourself having issues with both Rudy Huyn‘s Wikipedia app (or another Wikipedia app) installed as Cortana integration continues to evolve, but right now it seemed to work perfectly with both installed on my device.

You can download Cortfinder using the QR code above.
